Following the 1st Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Proverbs (ICP07), and given the interest expressed by participants, it was decided to create the Associação Internacional de Paremiologia / International Association of Paremiology (AIP-IAP), established in Tavira and aiming, among others, the following objectives:
- to realize paremiological studies at international level
- to organize international conferences in paremiology
- to make paremiological research at international level
