The 15th Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Proverbs (ICP21) / 2nd Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Proverbs - Online (2nd ICP21-O) will take place at Tavira (Portugal), from November 07-14, 2021 in the Hotel Vila Galé-Tavira. The main organizer is the AIP-IAP and the co-organizer is the Tavira Municipality (CMT).

The objective of the Colloquium is to bring together international experts, students, graduate students, teachers and enthusiasts of proverbs. Participants from different fields of study and practice concerning proverbs are welcome. The Colloquium will become a forum for sharing research expertise on paremiology (scientific study of proverbs and proverbial expressions) and how to apply it in teaching or other life’s trades.

In addition to these experts there will be acknowledged scholars from other countries, namely from Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Mozambique, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, UK, USA, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, etc.

We invite papers (presentations or posters of various approaches to proverbs), among others, on topics indicated at the GENERAL PRESENTATION page. Participants should fill the application form at PARTICIPATE” page until 31 August 2021. We also invite researchers, teachers, members of AIP-IAP and enthusiasts on paremiology to participate in the Colloquium and share the atmosphere, even though they don’t intend to submit any paper or poster.

Plenary papers will be 45 minutes long, including the discussion time (15 minutes). Section papers will be30minutes long, including the discussion time (10 minutes). The languages of the Colloquium will be Portuguese and English.

Presenting participants are invited to send us their abstracts, contact information, field of research, and the details of their stay in Tavira during the Colloquium. All paper submissions will be handled electronically by the email colloquium@aip-iap.org Registration is open now for the Colloquium. Note:   we ask participants to bring published or unpublished materials (articles, audio / video records, posters, books, proverb collections, …) for an exhibition to be arranged during the Colloquium.
