The 12th Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Proverbs (ICP18) will take place at Tavira, from November 04-11, 2018 in the Hotel Vila Galé. The main organizer is the AIP-IAP and the co-organizer is the Tavira Municipality (CMT).

 

The objective of the Colloquium is to bring together international experts, students, graduate students, teachers and enthusiasts of proverbs. Participants from different fields of study and practice concerning proverbs are welcome. The Colloquium will become a forum for sharing research expertise on paremiology (research of proverbs and proverbial expressions) and how to apply it in teaching or other life’s trades.

In addition to these experts there will be acknowledged scholars from other countries, namely from Albania, Angola, Austria, Argentina, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Japan, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Spain, Taiwan, UK, USA, etc.

We invite papers (presentations or posters of various approaches to proverbs), among others, on topics indicated at the General Presentation section. Presenting participants should fill the form in the PARTICIPATE” page for their applications by 18 July 2018. We also invite researchers, teachers, members of AIP-IAP and enthusiasts on paremiology to participate in the Colloquium and share the atmosphere, even though they don’t intend to submit any paper or poster.

Plenary papers will be 45 minutes long, including the discussion time (15 minutes). Section papers and theme discussions will be 30 minutes long, including the discussion time (10 minutes). The language of the Colloquium will be Portuguese and English.

Presenting participants are invited to send us their abstracts, contact information, field of research, and the details of their stay in Tavira during the Colloquium. Registration is open now for the Colloquium. Questions concerning the aims and themes of the Colloquium, etc., please get in touch with the Organizing Committee.

Note: we ask participants to bring published or unpublished materials (audio / video records, posters, proverb collections, articles etc.) for an exhibition to be arranged during the Colloquium.
